About Kingsley Family Creations

Biography

I am the proud parent of two kiddos. They inspire my work in so many ways. I love being a business owner and the freedom it provides. As a parent it allows me to still get a snuggle in here and there instead of being in an office away from my family day in and day out. That to me is priceless.

From Horticulture to Photography. Life has a way of changing it up on us. Plants are a core part of my life and who I am as a person, so I certainly wanted to add a little about my past and my transition to the world of Family Photography.

I worked in the Horticulture industry since 1998 and adapted my direction from simply planting for aesthetic purposes to planting with the environment and my client's health and well-being in mind. In 1998 I began volunteering in the Horticulture Dept the Henry Doorly Zoo. I loved it so completely I shortly after began my education in Horticulture specializing in Greenhouse Management.  I later went back to HDZ and completed my internship at the Butterfly Pavilion. While in school I worked several office positions. That experience provided me with a great sense of appreciation when I was finally able to work outdoors and make my living having a family run business. There are so many areas of the Horticulture industry, it took me awhile to find an area to specialize in. Eventually instead of planting 'cookie cutter' gardens I was able to help others make their yard space into an area they enjoy and take part in.

Teaching people how to grow healthy food they need was, and still is, a strong passion of mine. I am a big supporter of the community gardens that are becoming more and more popular, along with the schools and other businesses that are adding in raised beds. I enjoyed creating children's and fairy gardens the most! I like to encourage and teach children to grow, love and understand the plant life around them, and show them how important their impacts are. Children's gardens will always be passion of mine. They allow gardening to be a fun and educating experience for the entire family. Outdoor active playtime inspires imagination and encourages healthy living for our children. From fairy gardens, to raised garden beds for herbs and veggies, I will always feel children should have their own space to learn, explore, and make gardening a part of their lives.

Since 2017 I had been told for health reasons I must quit landscaping because of the physical toll it takes, several injuries, and current health issues. As of January 2020 I completely stopped landscaping and started photography. While I don't physically landscape anymore it is forever a part of my history and future.  I still grow and harvest our own mint and herbs for our heat packs and eventually want to include nature photography when my littles are grown a bit more.

The past 4 years have been so amazing and I have learned so much. I am completely loving it and cant wait for the many years to follow.
